About Us

    Raipur Capital of Chhattisgarh, a 21st Century State came into being on November 1, 2000 as 26th State of India.  The State spread an area of 135194 Sq. Km. having 27 districts.  The State has got 91 Assembly seats and 11 Lok Sabha seats.  As per the 2011 census, the total population of the State is 25540196.  44% of the state area is covered under forest. 16% of the total Ore production is from Chhattisgarh State.  Raipur has got all educational institutions like IIT, IIM, NIT, AIIMS and HNLU etc. The state is known for unexplored tourist destination.

    The State has got 4 High Power Transmitter one each at Raipur, Bilaspur and Jagdalpur for DD1 service and one HPT for DD News service at Raipur.  The State is having 13 Low Power Transmitter and 8 Very Low Power transmitters. The Low Power transmitter are situated at Champa, Kharod, Korba, Raigarh, Sakti, Bailadila, Narayanpur, Konta, Dongargarh, Kanker, Malanjkhand, Pandariya & Rajhara.

    The very Low Power transmitters are situated at Jashpurnagar, Pathalgaon, Kondagaon, Bijapur, Koilibeda, Pakhanjore, Sarangarh & Deobhog.

    With the above mentioned 24 Tranmitters reach for DD1 Service the total area covered in the State is 69.2% whereas total 79.5% of the area is covered with DD1 terrestrial signal. With one 10KW transmitter at Raipur used to radiate DD News signal cover 11.4% of the area and total 22.5% population.




LANDMARKS OF DDK, RAIPUR

Year 1977                 Commissioning of 1 KW High Power Transmitter at Raipur to Telecast programmes for villagers as post SITE continuity Station.
           
01.06.1985               DDK programmes fed via Satellite for community viewing.
 
01.06.1987               Kendra started relaying entire programmes of DDK, Delhi via Satellite for viewers of the region.
 
07.04.1989               Started telecasting a weekly programme for 30 mins Duration.
 
04.06.1990               New 10 KW BEL Mark II Transmitter was commissioned for National Service of Doordarshan.
 
January’ 1992            50 Sq. Meter studio was commissioned with 2 Camera Set-up.
 
01.11.1995                Transmission of Local Programmes started.
 
17.08.1998                Kendra started telecasting 90 minutes local transmission, 5 days a week from Monday to Friday.
 
15.08.1999                A 10 KW fully Solid-state Thomcast Transmitter was commissioned for DD-Metro Service of Doordarshan.
 
September’ 2002         Digital Earth Station was commissioned.
 
20.09.2002                 Regional News Started
 
06.02.2006                 Duration of Regional Transmission increased to 4 Hours from Monday to Saturday & 90 Mts. on Sunday.
 
25.09.2006                 A new 150 Sq. Meter Studio under the Additional Studio facility Scheme was commissioned with three Camera Set-up.
 
25.12.2014                 A 10 KW fully Solid-state R & S Transmitter was commissioned for DD-National Service of Doordarshan.
